What would happen if the words of one of Ireland’s greatest literary figures were merged with the music of one of the most legendary live bands in rock'n'roll? The answer is An Appointment With Mr Yeats, a show fusing the poetic power of W.B. Yeats and the visceral music of The Waterboys. The twenty Yeats poems in the programme span the poet’s humours from wry to romantic, rustic to mythological, and include famous and lesser-known works such as The Hosting Of The Shee, Mad As The Mist And Snow, Politics, The Song Of Wandering Aengus, News For The Delphic Oracle, An Irish Airman Foresees His Death and The Four Ages Of Man.  The show will also include a selection of Waterboys favourites, specially chosen and rearranged for this context.

After five phenomenal sell out shows in the Jerome Hynes Theatre, Wexford Opera House, the hilarious hit musical, Lords of Love returns to the Opera House - this time in the much larger O’Reilly Theatre. This brand new musical stars the much loved duo of Tony Carty and George Lawlor with Aileen Mythen as the femme fatale who came between them all those years ago  and the Hadrill twins as the lovely Lordettes.  With a music score that hints at Spinal Tap and encompasses Swing to Pop and Funk, it’s a musical kaleidoscope that mirrors the antics of its two main protagonists. Buddy Roxborough and Jack Raymond reunite as the Lords of Love for one last shot at fame; a greatest hits concert with special guest Ivy Tudor, the woman who split them up all those years ago. CWYT presents a double-bill of plays from the younger members.  ‘Hamlet’ by William Shakespeare. Hamlet is the son of the late King Hamlet (of Denmark), who died two months before the start of the play. After King Hamlet's death, his brother, Claudius, becomes king, and marries King Hamlet's widow, Gertrude (Queen of Denmark). Young Hamlet fears that Claudius killed his own brother (Hamlet's father) to become king of Denmark, greatly angering Hamlet. What happens next is a tale of revenge, love and terror.  ‘The Children’ by Edward Bond, Set in a late-21st-century apocalyptic landscape where human behaviour is monitored, living spaces are designated and where any emotional displays are immediately eradicated. In The Children a teenager's unquestioning loyalty to his mother has fatal consequences involving murder, abandonment and a quest.  Edward Bond is "a great playwright - many, particularly in continental Europe, would say the greatest living English playwright" (Independent)

‘Sixteen’ is a multi-media production where sixteen teenagers with an average age of 16 years relate sixteen self-penned stories about their lives, loves and feelings about the world they live in.  The stories are narrated, performed and with a live YouTube link up, projected to the audience.  The stories will amuse, entertain, shock and probably annoy you.  The stories may be true.  The storytellers may be bloody liars.  The play is like nothing you have seen before. ‘Sixteen’ is about the immediate, the now.  It's about death and playing dead, life and playing at life, it’s about the strange contact between performers on-stage and an audience caught between what they are watching and what they're being told.

Last held in 2008, this Gala represents the best of talented young Irish dancers with outstanding and dynamic performances & choreographic work that will leave you smiling and feeling that the future is bright for dance in Ireland. Organised by Myriad Dance in association with Wexford County Council, the Gala is the highlight in a week-end of events in the Sonraigh Youth Dance Festival. ‘The Great Big Gilbert & Sullivan Show’ is a sparkling, costumed ‘Gala Performance’ of highlights from many of your favourite Gilbert and Sullivan Operas, featuring six stars from the old and new D’Oyly Carte Opera Companies and other major national Opera Companies. Highlights include selections from; The Mikado, The Gondoliers, The Pirates Of Penzance, Iolanthe, Ruddigore, Princess Ida and HMS Pinafore. Major-General Stanley, Sir Joseph Porter and The Pirate King will even invite you to sing-a-long with one or two numbers. Don’t miss this superb evening of highlights from Gilbert and Sullivan’s witty and wonderful works, beautifully performed. (With piano accompaniment).

Wexford On Stage: Wexford Opera House hosts a local variety show. Join us in the beautiful O'Reilly Theatre as we open our doors to celebrate the wealth of talent and artistic endeavour in County Wexford. Music, drama, dance and who knows perhaps a little humour? This is about everyone coming together and finding something to cheer us as the days shorten and the night closes in. All proceeds from this fundraising event will go towards clearing the final capital debt on Wexford Opera House

The Guinness Choir and OrchestraDavid Milne-conductorRoisin O’Grady – sopranoMaria de Moel – altoNiall Chorell – tenorJames Harrison – bassNicola Harding – echo Following the sell-out performance of the Messiah last December, the Guinness Choir and Orchestra are delighted to be back in the Wexford Opera House with another choral classic - The Christmas Oratorio by J.S Bach. In true oratorio style this work tells the Christmas story from the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day to the adoration of the Magi at Epiphany. Although conceived by Bach to be performed as six cantatas over six days (the first three days of Christmas, New Year’s Day, the Sunday after New Year’s Day and Epiphany) there is, nevertheless, a musical unity in the whole work. It is rich in sound painting - the joyful trumpets at the birth of Jesus and the pastoral woodwind scene of the adoring shepherds. This abridged performance is directed by David Milne, with soloists Roísín O'Grady, Nicola Harding, Maria de Moel, Niall Chorell and James Harrison. James makes a welcome return after bravely stepping in at the last minute for the Messiah last year. This is Bach at his best, telling the Christmas story with reverence and joy in the eternal language of music.

Up in that Pantheon inhabited by the biggest selling recording artistes of all time in Ireland, rubbing shoulders with Bono and the Boys, you might be surprised to bump into Phil Coulter.   You shouldn’t be! He has contributed at least four titles to the list of Great Irish Songs  - the anthems ‘The Town I Loved So Well’ and ‘Ireland’s Call’ and the haunting ‘Scorn Not His Simplicity’ and ‘Steal Away’. Join Phil with his special guests Geraldine Branagan and the winner of RTE’s All Ireland Talent Show Chloe Coyle for an evening of song with Ireland’s Ambassador of Music.
